Tooley's bar was starting to get really busy as the time seemed to inch by. There, leaning against the edge of the bar top, was a young lady who was talking to a little boy sitting on the very end stool. Her curly, shoulder length brown hair seemed to flash red in the dim lights, while it tumbled over her shoulders, tips touching the bar top as she talked to the little boy, who was drinking a glass of white liquid that could only be milk and absently playing with several toy wolves.
Shaking her head, the young lady pulled away from the little boy and started to move away. No further words were spoken between the boy and the woman, as she set about her task of filling any tankards that were placed on the bar top, and any orders that the men and few women of Tooley's bar.
Her tight, black tank top clung to her upper torso, the bottom half cropped a bit, of short a size of two to small for her generous amount of bosom. As if thrown on as a last resort, a white apron was tied around her back, with the straps looping behind her neck, protecting her tank top and black jeans from any spillage on the job.
Katie Holmes wasn't just a normal in Tooley's bar, but she had worked there for nearly a year and had just recently been able to bring her five year old son with her, with the condition that if anything broke out, he was to climb out a window and could only be served milk on the very last barstool. At twenty years old, and a single mother, Katie was glad for the advantage over having to hire a babysitter in Eden Town, with her friend gone off to who-knows-where, but yeah! One couldn't complain.
As she set down a man's beer, she glanced at her son, who was still playing with his wolf toys, and shook her head again. How he seemed so unconcerned that he was sitting in pretty much a biker bar with his milk and toys, playing on a bar top that had to have seen a lot of bloodshed over split drinks. She sighed and went back to work, having promised Tooley she wouldn't slack with her son being there.

It was windy that night a powerfull gust shook the dust up from the ground and rocked crops making them sway.Just coming out of the very tip a young man trudged on walking in a set manor. With his unslightly hair and a mess of untidy clothes a person would almost assume he was a hermit living out in the woods.Fixing the ribbon on his arm he turned his head brushing the hair out of his eyes to look around.he hadnt been in town for a very long time most of the people had either changed living locations, stores moved or closed for good. The onley place that withstood the test of time seemed to be tooleys bar and thats where he would begin his search.
walking into the bar he tried to be as unnoticed as possible he wouldnt want anyone looking at him funny at a momment like this.Taking a second to remember the past events he looked down at himself and whisperd "i have to find out" soon after he took a seat at the bar looking around he tried to find tooley the best source of advice and information around. But gerry couldnt find him so he sat there in silence untill he came back.

Seeing a new face, Katie sighed, hoping this new face wouldn't turn out to be trouble and started to move toward him. "What can I get for you, Sweetheart?" she said, slightly louder than normal to be heard over the slight arguement that was starting up in the back of the bar, but it quickly quieted down. There was no affection in her voice or on her face as she called the man 'sweetheart' just a blank look in her eyes that said 'don't think your special, mister'.
There was another commotion that made Katie raise her head and glance at the little boy on the last barstool. He wasn't that far from the man she had spoken too, and she hoped that it would stay that way. Anyone who came into Tooley's tended to not be the best to be around small children. Least of all ehr son. Shaking her head as she notice her son was wiping up his split milk, she turned her attention back to the man, wondering if he was going to order something or if she could walk away and help Eric. Glancing at her for a moment with a look of no emotion he turned his head and shrugged his arms.he turned to glance at the boy and looked up at the women who spoke to him.giving him a look of mixed emotion.figuring this was most likley her son he turned away again.Scanning the room he looked for tooley who went home for the night and hired this women a hired help for the bar. "he must be getting old..." he said a bit louder than he meant he noticed the the bar became quiet with him being apparent.

At his words, Katie knew what the man had wanted. "Tooley suffered a bad heart attack several months ago. He was forced to hire and night and day crew, while he rested and has only fired the day crew. He comes in about noon and left about an hour ago," she stated, pulling a dishrag from under the counter and moving to stand before her son, wiping down the counter with the rag, while Eric picked up his toys, not wanting milk in them.
"Now, unless you want to drink something, I'm going to have to ask you to move to a booth. There are other people who want a drink now," she stated, hating that she had to be this mean to a total stranger, but those were Tooley's rules. Only paying customers sat at the bar, anyone else had to move to the booths and tables he had set up.

Glancing around he looked at the people in the room some familiar faces some were new."give me a shot of vodka and ill be on my way" he said brushing the hair out of his face and pulling it back for a moment to think his scar ran down his cheek and absent Mindedly forgot when remembered he pulled his hair down again.
taking out a few bills he looked at the counter thinking this bar used to be the best bustling with business and now its gone dry and all the people that go here now either drown there sorrows or are just bad news.

Nodding her head, Katie set the rag done and reached under the bar, pulling a long necked bottle of vodka out of the cooler and poured the man a shot. She set the shot on the bar top and looked at the bills crumpled up in his hand. She knew Tooley would make her pay for the drink out of her own pocket, but she couldn't take this man's money, when it seemed to be all he had left. She would just have to work a bit extra to make up for it.
"No charge," she said, before drifting back over to the little boy and pulling out a new glass and pouring a bit more milk in this glass. "Don't spill it, sweety," she said, affectionatly ruffling the boy's hair, but there was no happy smile on her face, just a sad smile that made her eyes seem to shine with unshed tears.

"thank you but i don't need your sympathy" he said laying the bills on the counter.getting up he turned and began to make his way out when he began to hear the start of a very loud argument again the same people next to the boy.But this one didn't seem it would end with an exchange of words. he turned his head back to the door "Not my problem" he told himself .
Knowing all to well when a brawl Sprung out in tooleys it usually involved everyone in the bar.and even the local law enforcement wouldn't be able to calm the fight down for some time.thinking for a minute he continued out the door rubbing the ribbon on his arm.

Glaring daggers at the men who seemed ready to start a large brawl, Katie motioned for the boy to get out. "Go give that man his money back and tell him that we are havinga free drink night for returning customers," she said, pulling a bat Tooley had told her to use if things got out of hand. "ALRIGHT YOU PIGS!!!" Katie cried as she stepped up onto the bar top, bat clutched in one hand and tapping against the bar top. "This was my son's first night in here and look how you all are acting!!"
Eric slipped from his stool, grabbing the man's money and slipping through the parted bodies at his mother's sudden outburst. He would come back in as soon as he did what his mother commanded and finish whatever she had started. As he slipped out of the bar, he noticed the man hadn't gotten far. "Mister," he said, trying to catch his attention, before actually having to leave the bar. He wanted to make sure his mother was ok, not standing outside in his pj bottoms and a black t-shirt. "You forgot your change!" he said, hoping the guy would just take his mother's kindness and be gone.

looking down at the kid he sighed "alright kid lets go see if your mommy needs some help" walking back into the bar with a a stoled look.walking toward the counter he walked around and placed him next to his mother."Put his bat down, tooley only uses it if a real riot breaks out" jumping over the counter and taking a seat next to the arguing company Gerry spoke.
"i believe this lady said to keep it down her sons in here?" Gerry asked as the large bald headed man turned around balling his fists "who's gonna make me?" throwing a fist Gerry caught it .twisting his arm behind his and smashing his head against the table."Me" pulling his arm tighter Gerry spoke "now for all the trouble you've gone and done, cursing around this young boy your going to stop this petty argument apologize to this lady and her son and buy a round of drinks for everyone in the bar OK?" he said tightening his grip
"if not ill break your arm " the bald headed man agreed "I'm Sorry i offended you and your son and i will pay for drinks the rest of the night" picking up the man Gerry threw him to the ground.

As the man walked back in, with Eric in tow, and then actually picked Eric up and placed him back on his stool, Katie slowly climbed off the bar top and placed the bat back in it's hiding spot. The only thought going through her mind was that the stranger was stronger than he looked. With a quick glance at Eric, seeing only him shrugging, she turned her attention back to the man who had just pushed the bald fight starter to the ground. "Thanks," she said, not really glad she had to be saying thank you to a complete stranger, but glad that he had stopped the fight before it had gotten worse. With the promise of free drinks, everyone suddenly wanted something and Katie was forced to turn her attention away from the man and the starters of the fight.
As his mother turned her attention back to the paying customers, Eric turned his bright blue/green orbs on the stranger who had helped his mother. His eyes flashed golden for a moment, then returned to their normal blue/green color as he picked up his wolf toy. "His name is Kaiser," he said, showing off the black howling wolf toy, trying to act like any other five year old boy, yet feeling sick at playing this game. Granted he was young, but he had grown up quickly while living with his single mother and her friend and his teacher. Not many were use to a five year old boy being able to think for himself and understand adult talk.

looking at the boy Gerry sighed "Thats nice kid the names Gerry and she should make some money tonight" Gerry shrugged looking out into the dark his eyes showing sadness as he turned away."good luck kid protect your mom" Gerry walked out of the bar and into the cold streets walking to where the inn was he inhaled deeply. "i guess im going to be sleepin outside again with prices like those" walking back to the street were the bar was he took a seat on a bench.
"look at the moon.... its pretty nice i think Rose would have loved it here" he laid his head back and sobbed on the inside for he had no more tears to spare.

As the night started to slow down, Katie decided she had had enough. Granted, her shift wasn't over for at least another hour and a half, she rounded up the last of the customers and hailed them all drivers before stepping out into the cool night air. The instant that she did, she found the man from eariler sitting not far on the bench. "What are you doing out here?" she questioned, her arm stretched out as she held onto Eric's hand.

Looking down at Eric as the man shooed them away, Katie sighed as her son looked at her with big blue/green eyes. "We can't just leave him here," she whispered, knowing her son would be able to hear her very well.
As his mother mentioned what he feared she would say, Eric nodded and glared daggers at Gerry, eyes flashing golden for a moment, before returning to normal. If Eclipse dropped by, he wouldn't be happy that there was another male sleeping at the house, but Eclipse owned neither him or his mother. Slowly, he nodded.
Nodding her head once, Katie moved away from her son, and placed a hand on the man's shoulder. "Wake up. If you sleep out here in the middle of Winter, your bound to not wake up. Come on, you can stay with us for the night, until you can find somewhere else to stay," she said.
